Have you ever wanted to spend some time in a 300-year-old mansion right in the very heart of China’s Wuyuan county? If so, the Skywells is definitely the place to be.
This high-end hotel has only 14 suites in this mansion which is located in the midst of rolling green mountains and the Beihe River. The 300-year-old mansion had formerly been left to ruin, but has been restored as a spectacular display of the Chinese heritage thanks to some intricate design and a little bit of magic.
At its inception, three centuries earlier, the Skywells Hotel was first an Inn, giving respite to business travelers. One hundred fifty years later, it became an animal yard and formal hall, and by the 20th century, a wealthy spinster it had been transformed into an orphanage.
Today, along with the fourteen suites available, Skywells also offers the animal yard and formal hall from years gone by, in addition to a library situated on the third floor. You can also enjoy the tea room, of course, with teas collected from the adjacent mountains surrounding the hotel.
Additionally, there is a restaurant that serves a combination of Western and Chinese dishes as well as a bar that offers “just a hint of English country pub”.
