A sustainable family housing project in Peru may seem like an ambitious undertaking (and it is), but TRS Studios has truly succeeded in their endeavors. Two 30-foot shipping containers make up the base of this secluded house, securing private areas in the lower quarters while an upper level is formed using recycled wood, wood shavings, and polycarbonate plates. The living spaces are flooded with natural light through translucent windows, which still provide a sense of privacy through their frosted exterior. Despite the harsh external environment, TRS Studio’s choice of furniture pieces are sustainable options that promise themselves to this long-lasting investment. The Callao Container House is truly a remarkable feat of modern sustainable architecture – one that is paving the way for more designers to follow suit.
