Canyon River House

The Canyon River House is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean; in the middle of the Vancouver Island wilderness, 30 minutes away from Victoria. This house sits on an incredible 67 acre oceanfront terrain, overlooking the Olympic Mountains scenery and its own private beach in the background.

The most notable characteristic of this award-winning house is that a river cuts right through it; producing as a result a geothermical radiant cooling and heating system by letting seawater flow in a circuit.

The windows of the house have been precisely placed so that the light  relected from the river and the ocean is brought indoors.

An Olympic sized outdoor coverted pool traverses the outside of the entire house; connecting the main house to the guest bedrooms. There is also a caretakers cottage, a tennis court, a garage with a hydraulic lift and a fully automated boat house.

The main materials used for this house are glass, oak walls on the outside, and travertine walls on the inside. The ceilings are extremely high, with large windows that allow as much natural sunlight in as possible. This house combines rustic and modern design with a touch of sustainabile and enviromental architecture.

The weather in this part of Canada seems to be quite mild, so no matter the seasons, your stay at the Canyon River House will certainly be a pleasant and unique one.
