The BMW 8 Series makes its long awaited return after a 20 year hiatus and the result is a gorgeous coupe is being launched with two models, the M850i xDrive and a diesel-powered M840d xDrive for Europe.
Examining the M850i first, this vehicle is powered by BMW’s latest generation of TwinTurbo V8 engines. This power plant outputs an impressive 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque which propel the M850i from 0-60 in an eye watering 3.6 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155mph.
In order to hit that impressive 0-60 time, the engine is supported by an eight speed Steptronic Sport transmission which is light and efficient, allowing for smooth shifts.
BMW have also fitted this model with their new headlight, which is slimmer than any design seen previously. This is echoed again with slim LED taillights and the rear is rounded off with an M sport spoiler. Accompanying these design choices is a single piece grille at the front and an array of optional carbon fiber goodies adorned throughout the vehicle.
Inside, BMW has as expected, fully loaded options from a technical standpoint. A heads-up display, Live Cockpit Professional digital instrument cluster, a Bowers and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, and a digital key system all feature to give you a complete package.
