LG Signature R9 Rollable 4K Oled TV

The idea of a ‘rollable TV’ being made readily available for mainstream consumption is something we might once have considered a little too futuristic to happen within this century.

With a launch date in early Spring 2019, the LG Signature R9 rollable 4K OLED TV is the first of its kind and boasts a variety of different modes for your personal viewing and entertainment enjoyment.

Three modes include ‘Line View’ mode, which involves the screen rolling down to a thin strip, ¼ of the viewable screen, to display a clock, music player, ambience selection and other personalised home features. This mode is also where you can connect to all of your other ‘smart’ household devices, creating a singular hub for connectivity in your home.

The ‘Zero View’ mode is a truly James Bond-esque feature which causes the entire screen to disappear and roll downwards into the base, still allowing you to listen to music via the Dolby Atmos audio system. The Full View of the screen boasts an impressive 65-inch screen and 33 million pixels of astonishing clarity. If you thought LG would compensate on visual quality for the novelty of the rollable screen – think again. It comes with a guarantee of up to 50,000 ‘cycles’ (we’re guessing this means 50,000 rolls of the screen up and down), which is an estimated lifespan of over thirty years.
