When you hear the name Steve McQueen, two words come to mind; “cool” and “Bullitt”. The man, as an actor and in reality, personifies what it is to be a man’s man and what better car is there for him than the iconic Ford Mustang? Steeda, who has been handling Ford performance upgrades for the better part of thirty years seemed to agree, as they have collaborated with McQueen Racing, owned by the iconic actor’s son. There’s a whole host of upgrades, which include suspension and engine modifications.
Performance wise, the engine has been equipped with a racing cold air intake and a performance tune to the ECU, taking the already formidable Mustang up to a mighty 500bhp. If that’s not enough, there’s an optional supercharger that cranks the power output up to 775hp. The highly focused racing theme continues with a McQueen Racing shifter knob, a Tri-Ax short throw shifter and a clutch spring assist with perch kit upgrade.
Aesthetically, the bell of change has been rung as well. The most obvious upgrades are the Steve McQueen edition wheels, which sit at 20 inches in diameter and 10 inches wide at the front and 11 inches at the rear, giving a wide and aggressive stance. In keeping with the race feel and theme, the front of the exterior is adorned with an aerodynamic fascia enhancement package which again, blends practicality with looks.
Finally, the optional extras take things up a notch, giving a more hardcore design to the car. These include the rear seat delete kit, which, as the name suggests, removes the rear seats entirely. This therefore makes room for the optional roll cage. A carbon fiber driveshaft assembly is also present as well as a Ford Performance severe duty IRS half-shaft upgrade which is a necessity if you select the aforementioned supercharger upgrade.
A complete car that offers everything from performance to styling. A true homage to one of the greatest of all time.
