The GT-R from Nissan is a beast, there’s simply no denying that. However, the Japanese giants have updated their track car for the first time in three years. The 2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 Race Car builds upon the already formidable base car yet adds some tweaks and improvements. Weight distribution has been improved thanks to a little relocation; the engine has been moved down and back which also gives the car a lower centre of gravity, helping with handling and aerodynamics.
Suspension has also been tweaked, with the car now sitting 150mm lower than the previous model, which makes for a firmer ride and once again, helping in the handling department. Rather surprisingly, but certainly a welcome addition, is a new and improved air-conditioning unit.
The engine is the usual twin-turbo 3.8liter V6, but the GT3 churns out over 550bhp thanks to some clever modifications. Of course with all that power, it’s vital to have adequate stopping ability. Nissan have this covered; huge six-piston front breaks are complimented with four-piston rears which means you’ll come to a halt rather quickly, should the need arise.
